Distributed Energy & Smart Grid Solutions
Today’s renewable energy, storage and demand management projects – including solar energy, wind, geothermal, biomass, battery storage, demand response and peak load management– offer businesses, government entities and institutional organizations new opportunities to improve energy resiliency and reduce costs while attaining greenhouse gas emmisions reductions. These integrated, distributed energy resources (DER) can be optimizedto produce savings and benefits not previously available. Utility Advantage completes the initial economic and environmental analysis and provides the independent expertise essential to support a client’s decision making process. For approved projects, we develop deal structures and RFP’s, negotiate and work closely with project developers, utilities and state agencies; we recommend software optimization solutions to integrate the various DER's that have been developed over time. We monitor the projects, and report ongoing cost and GHG benefits for our clients.
For our utlity clients we offer strategic advising on DER, EE and CX. This support includes market and technical potential studies, RFP development and auditing of EE, DR and DER programs. We provide analysis for wind, solar and storage projects; solar, storage and DR integration; EV and charging infrastructure; rate analysis; advanced metering and monitoring; and customer experience (CX) - data portals, peak demand management, price response, real-time data management, and benchmarking.
Our experience
We supported the development of over 11MW of wind and solar projects for the government and institutional sectors. Our team has experience building and managing 120 MW of Demand Response resources from hundreds of client's locations in CA, TX (ERCOT), New England (ISO-NE), New York (NYISO) and the Mid-Atltantic and Midwestern regions in the PJM wholesale power system. We have exerience with AutoDR Technology to automate load flexibility. We support the OpenADRTM "open-standards approach" to securely interconnecting devices with grid operations. We provide expertise in market operations including capacity, energy, and reserves markets.
